Wing Chun - The little known martial art

Recently I have been watching various videos about Wing Chun and I am very impressed. Prior to this, I have studied Tai Chi and some Shaolin. Wing Chun differs from these two martial arts in that your movements do not extend very far. By this, I mean when you punch, you never fully extend your arm. It is hard to explain so I have supplied some videos. When viewing the videos pay attention to the movements.

Wing Chun uses a special punching bag, known as a wooden dummy.  This dummy is used to mimic the human limbs so that you can learn how to maneuver through an attack.  The wooden dummy usually cost around $700 but can be built from blue prints available online.  I have found a man who can build it for $400 out of oak.  Though I am not sure of the quality I will give him a chance.

Most people do not know that the greatest martial arts actors all knew Wing Chun.  By the greatest I mean Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li.  Though I am not for sure on how skilled they were, they all had some experience in this art.  I do know that Bruce Lee studied under Yip Man from the age of thirteen to eighteen.

Just check out the videos below and see how kick ass Wing Chun really is, for yourself!

Peace
