Before the Night to Remember

I’ve been married now for over a year. It’s been great, and as you might have read in a previous post, I’ve been going over the events that led up to that marriage lately. In the previous post I told you how I proposed, but before I “popped the big question” I did a little “soul searching.”

Though some would question as of how I got this belief, considering the home I was raised in, but I am a firm believer that marriage is a life long commitment, not a “part-time job.” I had to have some deep conversations with some friends, co-workers, and family before I wanted to make such a big decision. I got many responses…

“Well it’s like I’ve jumped off a tall building and I’m making my way down, I haven’t hit anything yet, but I know there’ll be something coming,” said a close, recently married friend.

“It’s the greatest thing I ever did, I know a lot of guys are nervous about getting married, but I knew she was the one and I’ve never been happier,” said another close and recently married friend.

“Let’s just say this, marriage has three rings: the Engagement ring, the Wedding ring, and suffeRING,” said a fellow co-worker.

“Do you love her?”
“Yes,” I replied.
“Does she make you happy and treat you well?”
“Yes,” I replied.
“Than I support and put my blessing on this marriage,” said my Mom.

“Can you see your life without her?”
“No, and I don’t want to,” I replied.
“Then marry her,” proclaimed my Dad.

After getting the opinions and views of friends and family, I came to the conclusion that I couldn’t wait to get married. About a year later and we were married, and so far it’s been “Happily Ever After.”
