Some Small Thoughts on the Day
Here is a list I’ve compiled over the years of phrases and verses to go along with them, some of the phrases were taken from a Max Lucado book. Enjoy.
Pray all the time. If necessary, use words.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing
God forgives the past. Imitate Him.
Luke 11:4 And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.
Greed I’ve often regretted. Generosity – never.
Hebrews 13:5a Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have
Pursue forgiveness, not innocence.
Acts 3:19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
Don’t ask God to do what you want. Ask God to do what is right.
Matthew 26:42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.”
Nails didn’t hold God to a cross. Love did.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
You’ll give up on yourself before God will.
Hebrews 13:5b “I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,”
The right heart with the wrong creed is better than the right creed with the wrong heart.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
As much as you can, give thanks. He’s already given us more than we deserve.
Psalm 107:1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
